Ms. Unno, General Manager of the Sustainability Management Division, Tokyo Century, gave a lecture on the company’s sustainability initiatives to students of Kansai University’s Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences.

The endowed lecture was sponsored by the Business Ethics Research Center (BERC),* which we are a member of. Every year since 2013, Kansai University has held endowed lectures mainly on the theme of corporate social responsibility with speakers from BERC member companies. This year, Tokyo Century participated for the second time, with one of our staff members as a lecturer.

On the day of the lecture, Ms. Unno first attended a seminar of Professor Kazuhiko Takano, Dean of the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences, Kansai University, where she listened to a presentation by five students from the Tokyo Century Research Team and then had a lively discussion with students in the seminar.

In the subsequent BERC endowed lecture, General Manager Unno gave a lecture on Tokyo Century’s sustainability management and specific initiatives related to its materiality (key issues) in each operating segment. A total of 196 students participated, and it was impressive how they eagerly took notes while watching the slides and the videos, “Mother Nature” provided by Conservation International and ”Let’s Think about Global Warming with Enepen” (Japanese only) posted on the Tokyo Century NEWS page of our website. During the Q&A session, students asked specific questions about the Joint Credit Mechanism (JCM) and auto leasing, which showed their high interest.

Tokyo Century will continue its educational and academic support activities.
