Message from the President
I am honored and humbled to serve as President & CEO, Representative Director of Tokyo Century Corporation.
I would first like to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and patronage.
Tokyo Century has the Management Philosophy of “working alongside customers in pursuit of their growth and contributing to the creation of an environmentally sound, sustainable economy and society.”
The world is now reaching a major turning point and facing a plethora of social challenges. Attention is being focused on geopolitical tensions, changes in globalization, advancements in artificial intelligence and digital revolution, and global warming. Meanwhile, in Japan we are also facing complex and diverse social issues brought about by simultaneous structural changes—getting out of 30 years of deflation, a monetary policy shift, declining birthrate, aging population, and accelerating population decline, among others.
These changes can pose risks to Tokyo Century’s commitment to “the creation of an environmentally sound, sustainable economy and society.” However, we see those changes as a watershed, an opportunity to resolve social issues and create a better world and a sustainable society. Since the merger in 2009, our company has been constantly creating new value in line with the changing times, while expanding its business domains and building a unique business model based on Tokyo Century’s “Finance × Services × Business Expertise” concept. The challenging and pioneering spirit seen in these developments is, so to speak, an entrepreneurial spirit, and forms the basis of our company. I believe that this spirit will serve as the foundation for leading the way in addressing global and social issues.
What the world will look like in ten years is uncertain. Having said that, energy issues we face in realizing a decarbonized society, as well as the digital revolution represented by the advancement of communication technology and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, will surely confront us with a business environment that demands unprecedented changes and speed. In this environment, it is the Tokyo Century Group's capacity for co-creating businesses with a wealth of partners that counts. The strength we boast is not seen in our competitors and is a driving force for our medium- to long-term growth. Our collaborations with a wide range of partners in different industries have been underpinned by the expertise we have honed as a financial service company and our diverse and highly specialized professionals. With these strengths, we have received business proposals from a variety of companies.
Today, awareness of environmental and natural resources conservation is taking root, and subscription businesses are becoming more common. Consumers are placing more emphasis on the convenience and experience they can gain by using goods, rather than on the goods themselves. We thus promote the reuse and recycling of goods, or assets, while focusing on the value of assets and combining the functions of our partners with ours, aiming to provide assets and services customers can use in various ways. Through such life cycle management of assets, we will enrich people's lives. From the perspective of a sustainable society, we will consistently engage in businesses related to not only production and consumption of assets but also management of post-use assets in order to create social value together with our customers.
"Solutions to your Pursuits."
This is Tokyo Century’s corporate slogan. It encapsulates our desire to support both our customers and employees in chasing their ambitions and to have the accomplishment of their ambitions act as the driver behind the ongoing growth of the Company, as well as the driver toward a better society. Our company's greatest asset is our people. We will enhance our human capital and revamp our corporate culture to create a comfortable and motivating workplace, an environment where we voluntarily take on challenges, an evaluation system in which individuals’ contributions to the company are rewarded, and a culture full of diversity. As a leader, I am committed to taking the initiative in making Tokyo Century a company that is trusted and respected by all of our stakeholders, and thereby improving its corporate value.
