Under its Basic Policy on Health and Productivity Management, Tokyo Century fosters awareness for the well-being of officers and employees to create workplace environments where every employee can work safely and in good physical and mental health. As part of this effort, we held a seminar on women’s health, as we did last year.

We invited Ms. Sora Oishi, a public health nurse from Avenir Corporation, to present a seminar titled “Start Caring for Yourself Now! Anemia and Female-Specific Cancers.” The seminar covered anemia, a health issue that can lower work efficiency in women, and female-specific cancers, which occur at a higher incidence rate in the working-age population than those more common in men.

In the seminar, Ms. Oishi noted that some participants might be experiencing symptoms of anemia despite medical check-ups not revealing any issues. She explained the cause of anemia and introduced steps that could provide immediate relief.
In closing, she emphasized that, as with any illness, less time is needed for treatment when started at an early phase, with a lower level of physical stress. She also highlighted the importance of early detection before symptoms progress, particularly for balancing work and treatment. Additionally, she shared practical ideas for immediately addressing factors that can reduce the efficiency of female workers.

After the seminar, participants provided feedback that included learning for the first time about “hidden” anemia, finding the lecturer’s explanation to be really informative to know how to prevent anemia, promising to be conscious and do what can be done every day while remembering to schedule cancer screening tests, and sharing the benefit of cancer screening with others, given the importance of early detection. These comments confirmed the seminar’s content had been effectively communicated.
We archived the seminar session to make it accessible to those who had been unable to listen to it live online, ensuring the continued spread of awareness throughout the Company. Ms. Oishi also advised that, regardless of gender, having accurate information helps create a comfortable and cooperative workplace.

Last year, Tokyo Century participated in Corporate Action to Promote Cancer Control and the Working RIBBON women’s conference associated with it. This year, we launched a program offering optional female-specific cancer screenings for all ages, fully covered by the Company. Our goal is to support the prevention, early detection, and treatment of diseases while raising awareness of health concerns so that all of our employees can work confidently and safely.
