Tokyo Century’s employees participated in a volunteer activity that was held by public interest incorporate foundation OISCA to plant, nurture, and maintain trees in Umi-no-Mori Park.

The Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) engages in rural development and environmental conservation activities mainly in the Asia-Pacific region. Sympathizing with the aims of the organization, Tokyo Century has supported its activities for 10 years since fiscal 2015.

The Umi-no-mori (sea forest) project that OISCA gives cooperation intends to plant seedlings in a “trash heap,” or landfill for garbage and excess soil, of 149 hectares (including an afforestation area of approximately 58 hectares) in Tokyo Bay, and transform it into a beautiful forest. The landfill, called Umi-no-Mori Park, was used as a venue for the equestrian, rowing, and canoe events during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The park is scheduled to fully open in March 2025 as a place of relaxation for Tokyo residents.

In the recent activity, Tokyo Century’s employees, together with about 30 other volunteers including those from private companies, university students, and local supporters, removed arrowroot vines that prevent the growth of trees.

Tokyo Century will continue to contribute to local communities through environmental conservation activities.
